Programme description
Belarusian philology studies are primarily designed to provide students with proficiency in the Belarusian language at level B2+ according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). However, a "philologist" is not only an expert in language, but also an excellent specialist in the history, literature and culture of a given country. Within the framework of a given specialization students have an opportunity to acquire necessary knowledge of phenomena occurring in the field of history, literature, culture of Belarus and countries of the East Slavonic area, as well as to acquire practical skills in intercultural communication and translation and interpretation. The study programme also includes the opportunity to study an additional Western European foreign language (English, German or Spanish) and second East Slavic language (Russian or Ukrainian) in elective courses.
Students of Belarusian philology acquire oral and written Belarusian language skills, in line with the requirements for level B2+.
