Programme description
The aim of the second-cycle studies in Russian Philology is to deepen linguistic competences and to improve practical skills in translation and interpreting. An integral part of the study programme is also the study of English (as part of the "Business English Conversations" course) and a second East Slavic foreign language (choice of Ukrainian or Belarusian). Students of the second degree programme can choose a specialization (translation studies, pedagogy or business language and intercultural communication). The acquired skills and qualifications should enable the graduates to undertake work in the field corresponding or similar to the completed specialization.
Course advantages:
- learning to use specialist computer programs (e.g. SDL Trados),
- possibility of spending a semester abroad (within the ERASMUS programme) or at another university in Poland (within the MOST programme),
- the opportunity to learn a second East Slavic language (Belarusian or Ukrainian),
- developing your own interests, e.g. in the East Slavonic Academic Circle.
Specializations (*to choose) within Russian philology:
- translation specialization,
- specialization: business language and intercultural communication,
- pedagogical specialization.
Students can also choose the profile of a master's seminar, i.e. a seminar in linguistics or literary studies.

Students shape part of the programme on their own, having at their disposal optional subjects from the list of elective courses, which is updated annually.

Graduate competencies
Graduates of the East Slavic Philology / Russian Philology major have:
- in-depth oral and written knowledge and skills in your major language, a second East Slavonic language and a Western European language,
- communicative competence in general and specialised language, profiled for general communication and mediation in international economic and trade relations,
- the necessary knowledge of scientific disciplines (linguistics and literary studies) assigned to the above field of study/specialisation,
- ability to have a good grasp of the culture, realities and social relations of the East Slavic area,
- the competence to relate their linguistic and translation competence and to acquire, collect, process and transmit information and work as part of a team.
Career prospects
The knowledge, competences and skills acquired by the graduates enable them to find employment in:
- companies operating on the international market or involved in international trade,
- public administration units oriented at international cooperation,
- state and local government administration units,
- production, trade and service companies cooperating with foreign partners,
- marketing, logistics and customer service departments in companies with an international and culturally diverse character,

- non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions etc.
